FAQs
Bay Gallery doesn’t sell kitchen islands, but you can find high-quality benchtops and joinery components at specialist kitchen retailers, cabinetmakers, or home improvement stores. For tailored design and professional installation, consult a kitchen designer or custom joinery specialist.
The ideal width for a functional kitchen island bench ranges from 600 mm to 1200 mm (approximately 24″–48″). A width closer to 1200 mm allows more work surface and accommodates seating comfortably. Anything narrower may limit usability for cooking, prep, and social interaction.
The standard height for a kitchen island bench is around 900 mm (approximately 36″–37″), matching the typical countertop height for ergonomic food prep and dining.
To ensure functional circulation and appliance access, aim for at least 900 mm to 1200 mm (approximately 36″ to 48″) between the island and surrounding kitchen benches or walls. Smaller spaces may work for single users, but we recommend a minimum of 1.2 m (1200 mm) for the best comfort, especially when multiple people are working in the kitchen.
